CNC Woodworking Lathes

CNC wood turning lathes for stair posts, table legs, balusters and turned components. $12,800 – $23,600 typical factory range.

How a CNC wood lathe turns a blank

A CNC woodworking lathe spins the blank while cutters follow a programmed profile. Stair posts, newels, balusters, table and chair legs come off identical from one program. Optional milling and broaching units add flutes, facets or mortises in the same clamp.

Stair, furniture and joinery shops are the usual buyers. Blanks are often sized first on a sliding table saw. Panel carcass work stays on a CNC router; turning is for round stock.

Machines are commonly specified by blank diameter and length, number of axes, servo drives, and whether a milling or broaching unit is fitted. Voltage follows the plant (220/380 V).

Send blank size, profile complexity and pieces per day — we match a single-axis, multi-axis or turning-plus-milling layout.

What CNC wood lathes turn

These machines turn stair posts, newels, balusters, table and chair legs to a programmed profile. They are not CNC routers: routers nest and mill panels; lathes rotate a blank against the cutter. Add milling and broaching when the same part needs flutes, facets or mortises.

Beside the rest of the shop

Turned components often sit next to panel work: carcasses and doors on a CNC router, round parts here. Stair and furniture shops also use sliding table saws to size blanks before turning.

CNC Woodworking Lathes Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can these lathes add flutes or square sections to turned parts?

Yes — models with milling and broaching units can cut flutes, facets and square or mortised sections without moving the part to a second machine.
