How an edge banding machine finishes a panel
An edge banding machine glues tape onto a prepared panel edge, then end-trims, fine-trims, scrapes and buffs in sequence. Tape is typically PVC, ABS, melamine, veneer or acrylic; glue is EVA for everyday furniture or PUR for kitchens and wet rooms. The panel is already cut to size before it reaches the bander.
Cabinet, wardrobe, door and shopfitting plants are the usual buyers. Straight carcass edges run all day on through-feed lines; shaped fronts, chamfers, J-pull profiles and long frames need dedicated stations.
Automatic machines are commonly specified with pre-milling, a glue pot or PUR slot, top and bottom trimmers, scrapers and buffing units, and 380 V three-phase wiring (220 V where the plant requires it). Compact shops use a smaller footprint and fewer stations.
High-volume straight edges run on automatic edge banding machines. Short runs and tight floors use manual and compact edge banders. Chamfers use bevel edge banding; curves contour and curved edge banders; J-pull fronts handleless profile edge banders; jambs and leaves door and window frame edge banders.

An automatic edge banding machine feeds the panel through pre-milling, gluing, end-trim, fine trim, scrape and buff in one pass. Straight cabinet, wardrobe and worktop edges are the usual work. EVA or PUR glue, PVC/ABS tape, and 380 V three-phase wiring are common export specs.
Choose bevel edge banding or contour edge banders when the edge is chamfered or curved.
How a compact edgebander runs short jobs
Manual and compact edge banders glue and trim tape on a small footprint. Short runs, bespoke parts and some curves are the usual work. EVA glue and simple station layouts keep setup fast.

What edge banding is for

High-volume straight edges belong on an automatic edge banding machine; small shops or occasional runs start with a manual or compact bander.
